Rely
Unknown. Uncertain. These words saturate the air we are all breathing. For so many people, these unknown times are causing fear, exhaustion, and overwhelm. Yet, today, the sun still rose; the sky is still blue; and we still have breath in our lungs. When everything seems to be falling apart, it is good to find the steady, the still, the same— the things we know for sure won't change.
So, what are some practical tools we can put in our tool bag to hold us through this time?
1. Take huge breaks from all things political.
2. Breathe— intentional breaths to calm your nervous system.
3. Exercise— move, dance.
4. Reach out— be honest with others about how you're really doing.
5. Limit social media.
6. Hang out with people who fill you up (socially distanced :) )
And most importantly, if you have a spiritual resource that has brought you comfort and peace, rely on this.
This is where we are found, known. When everything around us is unreliable, find the place where you can rely. Find Love. Seek a place bigger than yourself, and practice letting go. For some of you, trust doesn't come easy; so perhaps this is the lesson we're all learning right now— trust. When we trust, we can rely; and when we rely, we are found.
