Therapists

"I'm not sure if resilience is ever achieved alone. Experience allows us to learn from example. But if we have someone who loves us—I don't mean who indulges us, but who loves us enough to be on our side—then it's easier to grow resilience, to grow belief in self, to grow self-esteem. And it's self-esteem that allows a person to stand up."

  • About Me
I’ve had the privilege of being a therapist for 22 years, and in 2019, I founded Salt Psychotherapy to enhance the work I was already doing in private practice as a solo clinician. The moment the idea of Salt entered my heart, it felt like something special, and seeing that dream grow into a reality has been deeply fulfilling. Each therapist I hire is carefully selected, and I’m proud to say that the team at Salt consists of highly competent and exceptional professionals. We all share a common goal: to care for the soul of people and help our clients and community thrive through wholeness and healing.

As a therapist, there is nothing more rewarding than sitting with someone who, with immense courage, is unraveling their life story and simultaneously piecing it back together into a unified and healed whole. I don’t take my role lightly. I’m mindful of the vulnerability involved in therapy—opening up and trusting someone with the broken or unhealed parts of yourself requires a bravery I deeply respect. Life can be challenging, and one of my favorite quotes is, “Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting some great battle.” Unfortunately, there aren’t many spaces where people can fully reveal what’s happening inside. I consider it an honor to hear and hold matters of the heart that are often kept in isolation. Our suffering needs to be expressed, felt, and understood in order to heal.

    Client Focus

A core focus of my work is with individuals who are seeking to understand how their personal histories—especially the wounds of complex trauma—are affecting their present lives. For many, the past continues to echo in their relationships, work, and sense of self. I work with people who are ready to explore these connections and heal from the impact of old wounds. At the same time, I also see individuals who may be functioning decent-enough, but feel a sense of longing for deeper healing and understanding of themselves and a more fulfilling life. These individuals may not be facing crisis but are still on a journey toward greater self-awareness, personal growth, and wholeness.

I work with a trauma-informed lens, meaning I understand how many wounds stem from relational pain that leaves profound marks on the heart and mind. These marks can impact how we see the world, ourselves, and our relationships. With gentleness, loving-kindness, and truth, we will heal these injured places so that you can see yourself and the world more clearly. Therapy is a process of becoming—unfolding into the person you were before the world told you who you should be. I’d be honored to walk with you, right where you are.

    Community Engagement & Events
At Salt Psychotherapy, we believe healing extends beyond the therapy room. We’re committed to creating a space where individuals can come together, learn, and grow as a community. In addition to individual therapy, we regularly offer community events and workshops, aimed at promoting emotional well-being, building resilience, and fostering deeper connections. These events provide valuable opportunities for people to engage with important topics and learn practical tools for navigating life's challenges. My team and I also offer speaking engagements, both within the broader community and specifically for churches, where we share insights on mental health, trauma recovery, emotional resilience, and living a wholehearted life. We are passionate about giving back to the community and offering resources to help individuals and families thrive.

    My Therapeutic Style
My approach is rooted in a psychodynamic framework, with influences from attachment theory, depth psychology, and analytic practices. Essentially, this means the work we do together is about deep, meaningful exploration. In our fast-paced culture, it’s easy to overlook the importance of taking time to look inward. True and lasting healing comes from allowing the mind, body, and soul the time they need to restore and reclaim what’s been lost or broken.

Over the years, we all develop relational patterns. Some of these patterns serve us well, but others can leave us stuck in unhealthy ways of thinking and relating that lead to anxiety, depression, and strained relationships. Therapy offers the opportunity to uncover your true, authentic self and make space for growth and healing. I offer a safe, nurturing space for you to heal and restore—guided by gentleness, intuition, care, and deep truths. Together, we will reflect on your life, fostering growth and change so you can cultivate a healthier life and build meaningful relationships.

I also integrate optional therapies such as art, sand tray, dream work, AF-EMDR, somatic techniques, and mindfulness practices. These tools provide alternative ways of expressing emotions or experiences that may be difficult to verbalize. For some, these therapies open up unexpected healing and insights. You don’t need to be an artist, a sand tray expert, or even a fan of dream work—these tools are about expression and understanding. Most clients, even those who consider themselves "non-artistic," find these approaches surprisingly helpful in unlocking deeper insights and resolutions.

  • My name is Abigail Muchow and I am an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist and I am so glad you're here. I believe in the transformative, relational power of therapy. Throughout my own journey I have gone through the process of slowly making sense of my own story with trusted mentors, healers and therapists who didn't look away from the pain I was in and were willing to put words around my feelings and validate my experience. I believe this can be part of your journey as well.

Everyone deserves a place to feel seen, heard and fully known; a place to explore the parts of yourself that need care and extra attention. As a therapist, it is an incredible honor to be able to sit with you as you begin the hard work of allowing all the parts of yourself…the parts that have been tucked away, the light and dark, to take up space and experience lasting healing. I approach therapy through a wholistic lens that gives attention to mind, body, and spirit. In therapy, we will honor your thoughts and feelings and spend time getting to know your body and the way in which it intuitively stores memories and often clues you into your emotions before you can name it. We will also make space to listen to your spirit: the fire, energy, and holy in you. We will put language around the story of your life.

I love working with people of all ages and all stages of development. Over time, my hope is that you will understand yourself more deeply and live more freely. Let’s journey together.

  • Whether it is courage or curiosity that has brought you to this space, I am so grateful that you are here. While these two virtues are unique in their expression, they are both invaluable companions in the therapeutic process.

I have long been captivated by the significance of storytelling and wholeheartedly believe that each person's life story carries both power and purpose. Over the years, my own story has been held in the gentle hands of trusted others who cultivated safety in relationship, honored my internal experiences, and empowered my growth. It is the greatest privilege to now hold that sacred space for my clients as I partner with them on their journeys inward. I seek to honor my clients with compassionate curiosity and cultivate empathy, authenticity, and hope in our work together.

I enjoy working with people from all backgrounds seeking to address anxiety and depression, spirituality, identity formation, relational hardships, grief and loss, and trauma. Having previously worked with youth experiencing acute mental health issues in a hospital setting, I am passionate about providing therapeutic care to both children and adolescents. I work from a trauma-informed lens and hold the perspective that mental and emotional well-being is integral to one's health. I would be honored to come alongside you, no matter the season of life you find yourself in, as you seek healing and wholeness.
