Secure
This one's for the moms and dads out there.
I can't stress enough how important it is to develop and maintain a secure attachment with your children. This is everything. When our children are securely attached to us, this helps them establish a robust self that can tolerate all that will be thrown their way in life. Parents, a secure attachment can even help to prevent complex trauma from being formed in situations that are traumatic. If our children feel understood, seen, attended to, safe, and responded to, this gives them the inward ability to cope through life-they know they have their parents to return to for love, and comfort when their world is chaotic. If you're not sure if your attachment with your child is secure, don't hesitate to get into therapy and learn the tools to make this possible, it's never too late; and even more importantly, repair and restoration will be the outcomes.
