Using Art To Reveal Our Depths

Have you ever had the experience of not being sure what you're feeling, even though you're positive you're feeling something because your entire nervous system is telling you something's happening?

Our bodies hold an incredible amount of information about our emotional existence; our cells seem to embody our unconscious in many ways.

You may have noticed this if you've felt your heart rate increase when a certain person walks in the room and you know you have a difficult conversation to approach; or perhaps your chest tightens when thinking about certain things; or you may feel a flash of heat run through your body; or conversely, perhaps all life drains from you and you feel "checked out."

These are common experiences for all of us because we are mind soul/body creatures and there isn't much distinction when one of these are activated--they're all on line. However, to not understand why you're feeling what you're feeling can be frustrating at minimum; and worse, it can prevent us from growing, healing, and evolving if we are perpetually cut off from understanding our hearts.

Art therapy and inner-child work is a gentle way at inviting the unconscious to speak to us more clearly, to reveal the depths of our hearts. There's a loveliness when we actually can pin point what is happening, because then we are connected to the pure place on the inside. Connection. The most beautiful feeling on this planet.

Give it a try sometime! Ask your trained professional to get out the markers or paints and see what and who you meet!
